Give Your Child One Need to Notice
Whenyou unload a bag of groceries
Pause beside one obvious safe need, such as fruit waiting by its bowl. Ask “Where does this go?” and give them time to notice and choose the next move.
Why it works
Following a command and noticing a need are different skills. A visible, familiar gap lets a beginner practice the second one.
Start tiny
Put one familiar item beside its storage place.
What you’ll notice
Your child gets a chance to spot a useful next move before you assign it.
When it slips
If it feels like a quiz, say the answer and do it together. Teach the storage place first; nobody can notice a rule they have not learned.
SafetyAdults handle heavy bags, cans, chemicals and choking hazards. Use safe items suited to your child.
