Whenyou cannot cover an upcoming payment

Use the creditor’s official number. Explain the shortfall and ask about a workable payment arrangement. Ask for fees, interest, total cost and credit-reporting effects; get any agreement in writing.

Try saying
I cannot pay the required amount on this date. What options are available, and what would each cost?
