Navigate a route using local landmarks

Whenyou leave for a nearby outing

Once a week on a short public route, locate yourself on a detailed map. Turn the map to match the streets; name the next junction and landmark. Travel to it, stop safely and check your position before continuing.

Make it easier
Use a familiar route with a companion and a phone backup.
Progression

SafetyPractise in safe public places. Stop if unsure; use your backup. This does not teach wilderness navigation.
