Write a restart plan before pausing work

Whenyou pause an unfinished task for the day

Beside one unfinished task, write when and where you will return and the first visible action. For example: "Tomorrow after the 9am call, at my desk: open the budget sheet and compare the two totals."

Why it works

An employee study found that making plans for unfinished goals helped detachment, particularly for people who usually struggled to switch off. This one-task version is an adaptation; individual results vary.

Start tiny

Write the next action and the next realistic work slot.

What you’ll notice

The task has a place to resume, even though it is unfinished.

When it slips

The note says "finish project." Replace it with the first action you could actually perform; use a realistic return time.
