Change one layer after leaving your desk

Whenyou leave your workspace for the day

Change one item of clothing you already own, such as taking off a work shirt and putting on a comfortable one. Use the same small change on workdays; no separate outfit is needed.

Why it works

Boundary theory describes rituals that mark moves between roles. It does not show that changing clothes resets the nervous system; this is a tangible cue to experiment with.

Start tiny

Remove a work layer, such as a cardigan.

What you’ll notice

There is a physical marker between desk time and personal time.

When it slips

You work in the same clothes all day. Choose one comfortable layer you can change; if that is impractical, choose a different card.
