Oil a stiff plier joint

Whenpliers become stiff to open

For intact ordinary steel pliers, apply thin tool oil to the joint over a cloth. Open and close the handles 30–50 times, keeping fingers clear of jaws. Wipe out dirty oil; add one drop of lubricating oil and wipe the handles dry.

Start tiny

Wipe the joint and check for damage.

SafetyFollow oil-label ventilation and contact precautions. Stop for cracks, bent parts or persistent binding. Not electrical-insulated or safety-critical tools.
