Sew a shirt button back on

Whena shirt button loosens or falls

Choose a flat button that fits its hole, a needle, thread and scissors. Mark the original position on sound fabric; work with the shirt off.

Steps
  1. Thread the needle with about 60 cm of thread; double it and knot the ends.
  2. Bring the needle up through fabric and one button hole, down through another. Repeat several times; sew both pairs on a four-hole button.
  3. Leave room for the buttonhole fabric underneath. On the back, catch a small stitch, pass through its loop twice and tighten. Trim; test fastening.

SafetyKeep needles and loose buttons away from children. Patch torn fabric before attaching a button.
