Show One Step Before Asking for Help

Whenyou begin folding clean laundry

Fold one washcloth slowly where your child can see. Then hand them another and invite them to try that one step beside you.

Why it works

“Help with the laundry” hides several skills inside one request. Showing a single step gives a beginner something they can actually copy.

Start tiny

Fold one corner, then let them copy it.

What you’ll notice

You spend less time explaining a job neither of you realized needed teaching.

When it slips

If they unfold your pile, give them a separate cloth and leave the finished pile outside their work area.

SafetyKeep detergent, appliance doors and cords out of reach; adults operate laundry machines.
