Hand Over a Cloth for a Small Spill

Whenyour child spills water at the table

Pass them a clean cloth and point to the small water spill. Let them wipe while you handle anything beyond their ability.

Why it works

A spill is a ready-made lesson with a visible finish. The useful question is what cleans it up, not who deserves a lecture.

Start tiny

Let them wipe one patch beside you.

What you’ll notice

An ordinary accident ends with a wiped table instead of a blame session.

When it slips

If wiping makes a bigger puddle, show one slow pass and work together. Keep the cloth within easy adult reach for next time.

SafetyAdults handle hot liquids, broken glass, electrical hazards and bodily fluids. Use plain water, not cleaning chemicals.
