Challenge

Sign out of work apps everywhere tonight

Whena chosen evening begins when you have no required work coverage

For one chosen off-duty evening, sign out of work apps and work accounts on every device you might use. Keep personal contacts and the agreed emergency route available, confirm you can sign back in next workday, and notice which device you would otherwise reach for.

Why it works

Muted alerts leave the account one tap away; signing out adds a deliberate access step. This one-evening experiment is an editorial boundary tactic, not a demonstrated treatment for compulsive checking.

Start tiny

Sign out of one work account on one device.

What you’ll notice

Opening work that evening requires a conscious sign-in instead of a habitual tap.

When it slips

One browser profile or tablet keeps you connected. Check those too; if your role requires a live app, choose another evening rather than disabling required coverage.

SafetyDo not use this during on-call duty or required monitoring. Keep authentication and necessary background services intact.

Put the card where the habit happens.

Every deck is free to download and print at home, then pin up: on the fridge, the mirror, beside the monitor. Or get the printed edition, ready to pin up the day it arrives.
