Replace torn insect-screen mesh

Whenan insect screen develops a tear

Work on a removable insect-screen frame laid flat on a table. Have matching mesh, matching spline cord, a spline roller and scissors ready.

Steps
  1. Lift the old spline end and pull it out; remove mesh. Clean the channel and let dry.
  2. Lay new mesh with about 25 mm extra all round. Roll it into the channel; use the grooved wheel to press spline over it, one side at a time.
  3. Keep mesh flat without bowing the frame. Seat every corner, trim excess outside the spline, then refit and check edges.

Start tiny

Measure the frame and match the old spline.

SafetyGround-level access only; no ladders or leaning out. Insect screens do not prevent falls. Stop for damaged frames or security screens.
