Ask Visitors to Let Your Child Finish
Whena visitor takes over your child’s safe chore
Say warmly, “They’re practicing this part; please give them a moment.” Stay nearby, accept a slower result and step in when safety or the child’s request calls for it.
Why it works
An eager helper can lose their turn when another adult makes the job faster. Protecting a little practice sometimes means speaking to the grown-up.
Start tiny
Say “Let them try this one.”
What you’ll notice
Your child gets to finish the part they began, even with an audience.
When it slips
If the visitor feels criticized, thank them and name the small safe part being practiced. Keep it brief; your child need not defend the arrangement.
SafetyOnly protect safe, suitable attempts. Step in promptly for hazards or distress, and help whenever the child needs it.
