Mend a torn paper page

Whena book page gets a short tear

For an ordinary, non-valuable book, use Japanese repair tissue lighter than its page and prepared wheat-starch paste.

Steps
  1. Support the page flat on wax paper. Tear a narrow tissue strip slightly longer than the tear.
  2. Brush paste onto the strip on scrap paper. Lift with tweezers and centre over the aligned tear.
  3. Cover with wax paper, a flat board and light weight. Dry at least an hour.

Start tiny

Align the tear without forcing the book flat.

SafetyPractise on scrap first. Refer brittle, coated, water-sensitive or valuable paper.
